Preventative Dentistry

Preventive dentistry is the practice of caring for your teeth in order to protect them from dental diseases and permanent tooth damage.

The purpose is to help you keep your mouth healthy.

What is it?

There are many forms of preventative dentistry, such as daily brushing, flossing and dental cleanings. To maintain optimal oral health, Dr Pretorius recommends a check-up at 6-month intervals.

The two main causes of tooth loss and poor oral health are tooth decay and gum disease.

In order to prevent these from happening our team works with our patients to develop a treatment plan that can prevent the need for fillings and extractions and actively restore a patient’s oral health.

Preventive dentistry services may include:

  • Check-ups

  • Fissure Sealants

  • Fluoride Treatment

  • Teeth cleaning / polishing & scaling

  • Routine X-rays
