Questions
For your convenience, we’ve put together a list of some common questions and answers. Perhaps you have the same question that was on somebody else’s mind. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Drop us a line and our team will be happy to assist you.
1
Do I need to make an appointment or can I just pop in?
We work strictly on an appointment basis for all consultations. However, In the case of an emergency please contact the practice directly to see where we can fit you in.
2
Do you accept medical aid?
We are not contracted into any medical aid/medical scheme. The patient is responsible for settling their account immediately after their treatment and will then have to submit their account directly to their medical scheme for reimbursement. We offer our patients' zapper and card facilities at the practice and accept most card types.

3
What is the right age to introduce my child to the dentist?
Ideally, as soon as they get their first tooth. Introducing your child to the dentist at an early age will help them understand the importance of dental visits and help them become more comfortable and less anxious about dentist visits.
4
What will a filling cost?
It will all depend on the size of the cavity and the surfaces that will be restored. This can only be determined once Dr Pretorius has had the opportunity to examine your mouth.
5
Are fillings and root canal treatments painful?
The procedures shouldn't be painful. With the right combination of antibiotics and local anaesthetic, we always aim for a pain-free experience.
6
How often should I have a check-up and teeth cleaning done?
Ideally every six months. Keeping a bright and beautiful smile is all about being consistent and part of your dental routine should include a 6-monthly checkup and teeth clean. That way Dr Pretorius can spot any developing issues and treat them sooner rather than later.
